Dearie brought over a Korean DVD his brother bought: Couple or Trouble.

It was a series that was previously shown every weekday on Channel U 10pm but I didn't get to catch it. But I heard from many that it was nice. So... it's time to catch it!

The first episode got me hooked! Damn nice & funny. Upon searching for the drama photos, I chanced upon a blog entry that gives a very good description of how the drama started and progressed on.

Some descriptions seemed copied & paste but nonetheless, I'd still credit where I got the resource from. Another good review website is from Korean Guide.

The story revolves around this woman...

Anna is born in a rich family. Her multi-millionaire parents passed away when she was still a little girl. She used to be a happy, warm person until she realised ppl always get near her with ulterior motives and learn that she should never be too giving & trusting because everyone would be eyeing on her wealth. She then turn into this totally rude, feisty, and audacious person who is never be satisfied with anything.

The story started with this hot construction guy...

Chyeol Su lives with the 3 children left behind by his late brother. He owns a company that handles trivial and menial projects as building neighborhood fences, setting up plastic greenhouses, renovating bathrooms and kitchens, and installing heaters.

In his own words, Chyeol Su is a 'construction site multiplayer' who will take on any and every kind of work if it means getting paid. He’s excessively thick-skinned and completely hung up on money. He might appear to have no pride at all, but when his meal ticket—that is, any lucrative work he's laid claim to—comes under the smallest threat, he retaliates without mercy. He's obstinate, tenacious, and determined, especially when it comes to money...He runs all around town, diligently applying himself to anything that might bring in money.

His self-proclaimed best feature is his washboard abs: he has a body to die for.

When doing construction work on private residences, his physique becomes the ultimate tool of 'salesmanship' with the housewives. When the work isn’t going well, he takes his shirt off in front of his lady employer (so that she can enjoy the view and quiet her anger...).

When Anna came back to Korea, she was caught up in rain and her car was trapped in a mud. Fortunately, Jang Chyeol Su (Oh Ji Ho), who was driving back home, saw and helped her with a price.


Jang let Anna stay in his car to lessen the weight and avoid in getting wet from the heavy rain. When she saw some blood in his vehicle with a dead body (there were mannequins with red paint), she clobbered him with a shovel in his face and left him on the road, unpaid.

One day, Anna's favorite cat named Princess lost in the road and by mistake fell into Jang’s hands. Jang had no idea who the owner of the cat was and sold it in small value in a pet shop. Anna suspected Jang for the disappearance of her cat and she was mad when later she found out that her $10,000 cat was sold by Jang in a small amount.

After that scene, they met again when her yacht’s bathroom's pipe was stuck and employed some tool man; however, she never knew it was Jang who fixed the problem. Anna was displeased with Jang's work and they had an argument where she threw his tools overboard, kicked him into the water and left him unpaid again. Jang was mad, plotted his revenge and they became sworn enemies.

SEE!! Good storyline right?? Got pretty girl, hot guy and a very original concept of how these 2 strangers with different background, personally crossed paths. Will continue to watch...

I did a Wiki and realised Oh Ji Ho is actually born in 1976! Same as Leehom! Hehe... Gosh! Tall & absolutely my type! Wahaha... very man!

And Wiki says Anna (Han Ye Seul) is 1982! But...wah biang! She looks so womanly, so mature in the drama! She's same age as Song Hye Gyo! Hiyo... what am I doing la...

Anyway, the story continued... Anna's actually married. She had a quarrel with her husband, Billy and threatens to end their marriage, she herself gets drunkenly pitched overboard and suffered to a bad case of amnesia. Jang found her in the hospital and suddenly learned that she had no idea who she is. Jang plotted his revenge by telling Anna that she was his girlfriend and took her home. His idea was to make Anna his maid to pay off what she owes him for the yacht repairs and the loss of tools in the sea. Even though, Anna had absolutely no idea of what her past was, she had a fuzzy idea that she wasn't that close to him.

While Anna stayed in Jang's house, he made her do all the household chores. But as a rich woman, she never knew about any job and makes a mess on every household duty she was assigned to. The sequence of comedic errors that happened thereafter is entertaining.

I like the 3 kids that Chyeol Su is taking care of!!


They found the ajuma who lives with them very amusing. Some of the scene where she did things together with the kids were so heartwarming...


Two people as different as night and day, who would never even cross paths under normal circumstances, come together in an outrageous situation and are eventually reborn as a fantastic couple.

Jang Chyeol Su told Na Sang Shil that he likes her... awwwww... that was so sweet. Both of them were so happily together but as she became happier... she grew closer to regaining her memory as Billy appears more often in front of her....

I think I haven't mentioned about the other funny characters in Couple or Trouble.

When Anna fell overboard and went missing... Billy actually sent ppl to find out where she was. While she was rescued and brought to hospital, Billy thought Anna passed away and announced her death to the media.. They even hold a funeral/mourning session. Billy & his assistant thought they could inherit Anna's wealth but... there were news that Anna has anmesia and currently lives in a village with a man and 3 children. So he always checks her out himself, sort of behaving like a stalker and caused many funny scenes.

He appeared in front of Anna several times but she clearly couldn't remember him. Hence Billy decide never to acknowledge her. But slowly, while inspecting her everyday life at the village, he realise she actually smiles/laugh. Back then, he used to be captivated by her smiles when they got married, but the smile disappeared from her.

Meanwhile, Billy got a video tape from Anna's lawyer that was filmed several years ago. Anna mentioned inside the video that, if one day she died, he will not get a single cent. So... he decided to go back to win her heart. But all this while... Anna had grown to like Chyeol Su.

There's another female lead in the story. But I see her character as a 耍心机的贱女人，狐狸精. Hence, I wouldn't even wanna mention her!

The love story between Chyeol Su & Sang Shil is very sweet... He slowly realised the importance of her in his life. Every action or word from her will matter to her... awww... All the jajangmyun scenes and the part where he installed the heater onto the sofa couch that she slept on.

Eventually, she recalled her memory. Chyeol Su knew.. she was a wealth rich woman. But he couldn't help falling for the grouchy woman who lived with him all these while, and shared so many beautiful moments together.

Anna remembered who she previously was and she remembered those times shared with Chyeol Su in that dilapitated house, together with the 3 kids. After she returned to her status, she began to understand how tiring is to tidy up a house and was more sensitive to the ppl around her, especially her maids.

Three of the scenes that brought tears to my eyes were:
1. Billy knew she misses jajangmyun and brought a chef to specially prepare for her. But while Anna ate the noodles, she recalled having those with Chyeol Su and how he taught her how to prepare the food and couldn't stop tearing...

2. Anna went back to the bus stop at the little village and sat there not sure what she was waiting. She wanted to see Chyeol Su but was afraid he wouldn't see her or thought of her differently not that she is Anna. But is just so happen Chyeol Su was really passing by and they both saw each other. She told her she'd be leaving and Chyeol Su previously promised her that no matter what she became, he'd search the entire world for her. (though I don't understand how they can't be together if they truly love each other) She wanted to shake his hand but he refused to shake, fearing if he did, he won't ever let her go. But Anna went ahead to hug him and both teared buckets...

3. Anna saying bye bye to the 3 kids. The kids were missing her and wondering where she went to. So when Anna appeared, they were so happy and wanted to go over to her but she told them to stay 50m away from her and spill the news of her going away. The kids asked questions like if she'd be back and could they keep in contact to which she said no to all their requests. The youngest kid asked, "Then what should we do if we miss you?" She was holding back her tears and said, "Then don't miss me." The kids cried... and ran forward to hug her hoping to keep her from leaving... Anna was tearing but still trying to put up a front...

Heng it was a happy ending... Super duper sweet... My tears weren't wasted...
