OMG! I'd like her since My Queen and that was when her career 到的巅峰/高峰/顶峰. Haha I don't know which one is the best to describe 'the peak of her career'? :X
It's a modern twist to a historical figure back in ancient drama about a lustful king who saw the side view of Zhong Wu Yan and decided to take her as concubine? However, the other side of her face was actually 'disfigured' by her hideous birthmark.
But Zhong Wu Yan is a courageous & resourceful woman and able to command the soldiers to fight war so the king will only go to her whenever he's in trouble and she'd be able to fix his problems for her.
Yes the start of the drama, the casts really acted a periodic scene.
In the 21st century, Wuyan (Cheryl Yang) is intelligent and compassionate, but has been judged by her appearance her entire life due to a birthmark on her face. Wuyan met Qixuan when they were kids and he was the only person who commented that her red patch as pretty like Mudan (peony) flower rather than mock her as everyone else had.
As grown ups, Wuyan continues to keep up to date about Qixuan's news. He became the city's most desired bachelor all for the wrong reasons. Everyone knows he's of wealthy background and he was good looking, but he was also extremely superficial who judges ppl by their appearance, the hotter the better. He tries to woo "the sexiest woman" - a supermodel, Xia Ying Chun.
As it turns out, Qixuan had a depressing childhood. He always failed to receive his father's acknowledge no matter how hard he worked. So he simply stopped trying and decides to waste his life away chasing skirts and immerse in booze & women.
Qixuan's father owns a big cosmetic company. His good friend, Dawei and his mother works for the company too. Mr Qi is disappointed with his own son as he's lazy and seems like he's incapable of anything. But, he still announces to the Board that he wants Qixuan to become a director. At the same time, Dawei's mother is plotting to take over the company.
Wuyan found out that Qixuan was completely the opposite of the person she remembered he to be. Now he's plain arrogant and completely mannerless, and keeps calling her ugly. She decides to teach him a lesson, and makes him accountable for his action. Meanwhile, Qixuan is attracted to supermodel, Xia Ying Chun. Unknown to everyone, Ying Chun used to be a plump & plain looking girl. Because of a one-time kindess of Qixuan, she decided to go for plastic surgery and is now a successful & beautiful model. Qixuan started dating Ying Chun, not knowing her past.
Mr Qi realised that Wuyan's father, Mr Zhong has helped him many years ago and was reunited with him. He took the chance to tell Mr Zhong about the promise they made 17 years ago that Wuyan will become his daughter-in-law. Out of respect, Wuyan agreed to help out the business and move to the Qi's residence but she refuse the marriage. Qixuan, too, violently object to this marriage. However, Qixuan's father is actually in critical condition and can anytime give in to his health condition.
Qixuan finally enters the company & found out that Wu Yan has been assigned as his secretary. He bears with it and later realised that Wu Yan has helped him unconditionally. Wuyan also discovered that he is actually quite kind-hearted.
Meanwhile, Howard, a blind young man, whom Wu Yan took care while doing volunteer work in her hometown, decides to look for her. He found out that from Mr Zhong that she was working for Qi Xuan's company, and started to help Wu Yan secretly.
Unknown to Wu Yan, Howard is the director of a huge company, and a company that Qi Xuan's company is trying to seek cooperation with. When later Wu Yan finds out about his true identity and also the reason why he's blind, she sympathizes with him. She urges him to go for an operation, and he promises her and tells her because he wants to see her face.
Ying Chun realises that Qixuan is starting to have feelings for Wu Yan. She tries hard to get Qixuan to focus on her, but realises that she's losing out.
Meanwhile Howard gains his sight, and fights hard for her attention....

WHAT A COOL STORYLINE RIGHT I was severely hooked to Zhong Wuyan. Mingdao & Yang Jinhua make a cute couple! But I still think Ethan Ruan seems better! Wahahaha
