After being disappointed with a few Korean series, I'd switched to J-Doramas. It has been ages since I last saw a Japanese drama. I think the last one was probably Zettai Kareshi (2008) but before that, it should be the 2000s...

I'm currently watching Zenkai Girl (Full Throttle Girl) & Ohitorisama (One/Single Person?)

I knew about Zenkai Girl cos it is currently airing on Channel U and I thought the female lead was quite bright & cheery!
Looks like some 大女人 alpha female show according to the poster..
After watching the first episode, I realised this girl is extremely competitive and only aims for the best. I was thinking, is this person actually for real? So realistic?

She grew up poor and has a gambler dad and vows to study hard, got straight As and wanted to become a successful lawyer who earn tons of money so she can have a good life. She was hired by an MNC firm but it went busted so she settled for the second best law firm in Tokyo and her first task by her female boss was to babysit her 5 year-old daughter.

I like her will, power & determination to convince herself that whatever task she has been entrusted to, she'll do her best in completing it. But it's not because she wanted to. She just wanted to display her competency on being able to take on ANY tasks even if it's something she totally has no idea of doing. She just wanted to prove to everyone that she WILL do it and CAN do it.

Sorry ah... but the way I see it, it's abit ACT HERO(INE) and very 勉强.

She met our Male Lead who's a single dad who's a chef, whose step-son goes to the same kindergarten as her boss' daughter. As expected, our Female Lead usually does not have good impression of the guy. But the little girl did like the step-son of our Male Lead.

But out leads kissed but to our very dense Female Lead who insisted that a kiss is merely just a physical act without any strings attached to it and so she demonstrated in a drunken state with the guy. Hmm... she sure didn't feel anything but the guy did.

Japanese drama usually move faster than Koreans cos they have shorter episodes and by episode 5, we see that both of them have hidden budding feelings for each other but he thinks he's not good enough for her, she thinks she had it with being poor and wants a good life and decides to snag the Star Lawyer in the firm. She accepted that lawyer's pursuit and subsequent hand in marriage.

Towards the last few episodes, you STILL continue to see her denying her real, true feelings even after the Male Lead had confessed to her eventually & finally. But she can't imagine herself having to continue work so hard to earn a living...

Sorry I can't relate to this drama cos I think both the positions of the roles are quite miserably losers - both of them. Shouldn't the guy have more backbone and more confidence to do what he wants to do (top chef in high class restaurant in the city)? Why is he always so affected by her little sarcasm??

She sure is a damn sarcastic bitch in the show and especially towards the poor guy who's in love with her.? Why does she also have to keep on rubbing into him being poor and no determination to stand up for himself? She cares for him but yet keep denying and saying extremely hurtful things.

AIYO!!!!! As an audience I also pek chek! The whole show was really 勉强 to watch even! I really don't understand. Hence, wakarimasen j-dorama...

And then there's 姐弟恋 cum 同事恋 in Ohitorisamu.
The guy is cute & boyish though...
I have always been a fan of 姐弟恋 since Long Vacation days back in the 90s.

This website sums up pretty well what this drama is about. 33 year-old woman who lives alone, single AND happy AND she's not looking AND she doesn't care. She's a teacher at a girls' high school. Her life was disrupted when she had to mentor a 23 year-old guy fresh out of college who's penniless. Due to some reason, she offers to put him up at her place until he has money to rent an apartment. As teachers, as colleagues, as mentor/apprentice, they get to exchange a lot of views & opinions on a daily basis at school and at home. So I guess you could say it's a case of 日久生情.

I'm still halfway with episode 5 but that website give a pretty sweet spoiler that will make me continue watching. But something doesn't add up, if you're a guy with cute boyish good looks and works as a teacher in a GIRLS SCHOOL, you won't go for a lao za bor right?

I mean even though they're supposed to be 10 years apart but because she is also taller than him, she towers over him throughout the entire show and looks like a giant who will devour him anytime LOL! Since he's supposed to be this cute little lost puppy looking for a place to stay lol.

If you can look past their physical incompatibility, this show is really a very cute, light-hearted show :)

I mean, just look at the long stares and secret glances after spending so much time at work AND AFTER work everyday lol...
