When I first knew Takuya was starring in a periodic drama I was shocked! Cos the image of him wasn't appealing!

This periodic show was pretty boring with a simple & straightforward storyline. A samurai was bored of his routine life as a poison taster in the castle.

I didn't know that a samurai's job is actually to taste the food being brought up to the Lordship to make sure the food the Lordship get are not poisoned. I had always thought that the samurai is kind of like a General status - fighting wars to protect the King/Emperor. I mean well... being a poison taster is kind of protecting the King/Emperor as well but still...

The story revolved around 3 characters, Takuya and his wife, Kayo and their servant, Tokuhei. Funny parts usually comes from Tokuhei doing stupid stuffs which adds humour in this serious periodic movie.

So anyway, the story started where Takuya got poisoned due to poor food preparation from the kitchen and became blind cos he ate some toxic seafood. He was unable to regain his sight as well as his status & position in the castle because since he got blind, what else could he do?

Relatives shun away from the trio. They have difficulty in food supply so Kayo had to go work instead to earn an income. But there was an official (who lust after Kayo) pretended to empathise with her situation and said she could go to him if they have any difficulties in everyday life.

Kayo was desperate with their poor situation and eventually gave in and always snoop around taking a long time to reach home and Takuya send Tokuhei to follow her and they were all shock to discover that she was having an affair with the official but that was all to help Takuya to resume his position in the castle so that they have food to survive on.

Takuya was very angry and divorced Kayo and later on he found out from his friends who worked higher ranks in the castle that it was Lordship's own kindness and sympathy (cos Takuya helped him took the poison otherwise Lordship would have been dead) and decided to give them life time food supply and not that evil official who took advantage of his wife.

Takuya regretted divorcing his wife and decided to pick up his sword skills all over again as a blind man and avenge for his wife and apologised for his foolishness. So Takuya had a duel with that official and chopped his arm off... (didn't expect that)

It was a happy ending where Kayo eventually went back to the man she loved most! Awww...

If I had a hot husband like Takuya who turn blind, I'd definitely wait for him LOL! Kidding!
