I am currently watching Queen In Hyun's Man and boy it's SUPER amazing !

It's about an Imperial Scholar, Kim Bong Do, who time-traveled 300 years into modern Seoul after he was given a talisman. It was during the reign of King Sukjong who dethroned Queen In Hyun and made a scheming consort, Lady Jang the title of the Queen instead. Bong Do vows to protect Queen In Hyun's name.

When I first read the short synopsis, I was thinking this fella probably has some affairs going on with the Queen or something. But that was only a pun! The female lead, Yoo In Na, was a budding actress playing the role of Queen In Hyun in a periodic Joseon drama! So hmm... does that mean he was referring to protecting the female lead who's playing the ROLE of Queen In Hyun instead?

The time warps/leaps were so beautifully/magically stringed. The male lead could teleport at will although it comes with a price. He has to be in a life-threatening situation in order to leap into modern Seoul. So whenever he wants to see the 'special girl' (female lead, that budding actress), he needs to put himself through danger to be able to port back to Seoul. Whenever he wants to go back to Joseon, he'd need to recite a chant and that will do the trick! Hmmm!!

What I don't understand is.... if he could be in Seoul and avoid being framed/killed in Joseon, why did he keep wanting/having to go back Joseon to wash his name in history books?

Anyway, casting the subplot of the politics aside, the reason why this show is so adorable was because Yoo In Na was the person who falls for the male lead first and she showed her affection to him quite openly. He didn't openly accept her feelings but yet doesn't really confirm it either... so both of them are constantly in the flirting stage which is so sweet!

Although I read that netizens weren't happy with the ending because it appeared to be weak but I honestly thought it was just fine!

Apparently Kim Bong Do was thought to have returned to Joseon to serve his sentence or something (I didn't really get the parts about the politics but apparently he was framed by the bad guys) so his disappearance made Yoo In Na heartbroken and eventually the talisman that allowed him to travel to & fro Seoul & Joseon was burnt. So there was no longer any reason for him to be able to appear in Seoul again until......

Yoo In Na called/paged/looked for him by calling his mobile phone. Apparently cell phones can work in Joseon without electricity haha! So the phone actually rang and he picked it up in Joseon prison that managed to teleport him back to Seoul to be reunited with the one he loved & missed... awww... I thought it was ok what, right?

I also watched the much hyped Rooftop Prince due to the influence from Ah Neng who is a JYJ fan. The male lead, Mickey or Yoochun, is from JYJ. I am not sure if this was his first time acting but it really did appeared as very raw...

A crown prince from Joseon era got teleported to modern Seoul while investigating the death of his crown princess. Of all places in modern Seoul to be in, the crown prince and 3 of his subjects landed in the rooftop house where the female lead lives.

At first she found them to be a piece of joke, later she realised they may be country bumpkins & taught them how to be familiarise with modern habit/living. Those parts were hilarious. Eventually after staying together, they learn how to live together and got closer with one another.

The imperial guard, the scholar, the eunuch
There were a few subplots happening at the same time that are important to the rest of the story:

1. Female lead has a younger evil step-sister who does not want to be associated with her and always sort of bully her whenever she can. She get jealous when female lead's abilities shine over hers...

2. There is a granny CEO who has a grandson that looks exactly like crown prince and mistaken him as her grandson who lost his memories after getting into an accident....

3. Said accident was orchestrated by his own evil cousin who tried to get rid of him so that he can inherit his granny CEO's company because, the elderly lady lost both her children along with their spouse and only left with 2 grandsons.

The evil cousin and the evil sister who always tried to get our male & female leads into life threatening situations.
4. In order to investigate why they got teleported from Joseon to Seoul, crown prince decided to play along as the granny CEO's grandson, earning the displeasure of the evil cousin who tried ways & means to get rid of him.

5. Crown prince discovered someone who bears striking resemblance to his crown princess who turns out to be the female lead's 'step'-sister. Once this evil sister knew that the crown prince was the grandson of granny CEO, this gold-digger tried to eye on him...

6.What happened throughout the story was their evil plans being exposed time & time again, evil sister killed granny CEO by accident and the both of them also tried to kill/drown both the male & female lead but the drowning brought the crown prince some revelations.....

The Joseon guys finally realised that what was happening in modern Seoul reflects exactly what's happening in Joseon! This realisation made them disappear one by one... back to Joseon.

The parting scene between both the leads...
The story starts to unfold....

During childhood/teenager years, the older sister (our female lead) was supposed to be betrothed to the crown prince. But the evil younger sister has been in love with the crown prince for a long time and will not allow that to happen so she plotted to make sure her older sister doesn't get married with him. I wasn't sure if using an iron to burn her older sister's face was intentional or not? So obviously the older sister - spotting a scar on her face - isn't perfect enough to marry the crown prince and the evil younger sister took that place to become the crown princess.

However, the crown prince always felt that he has nothing in common with the crown princess. He felt that he connect with the older sister better.

Here's when we finally saw the Joseon version of the evil cousin - who wanted to revolt the entire royal family. He plotted with the plan to harm the crown prince with the sisters' father, something which the female lead was disappointed when she learnt of her father's plan to poison the crown prince. Who else was sent for this job? Even though the crown princess may genuinely love the man she married, but has to help her own maiden family.

On D-day, both the sisters knew they were sending poisoned persimmons to the crown prince's chamber. It was supposed to be just between crown prince & crown princess but female lead crashed their room and offered to eat all the persimmon because she loved it. Crown prince kind of carried a torch for her and allowed her to eat it all since she liked it so much.... Crown princess face showed distress because - not only was crown prince not going to die, but the person who will die was her sister. She knew the plan failed and will have to escape from the palace asap.

Basically, the female lead told her family to fled the capital and she will wear the crown princess' robe and mask it as a suicide since she wasn't going to live anyway after eating so much poison.

Our crown prince knew it right away that the person in the pond wasn't crown princess but it was too late to save her. He quickly sent orders to have the culprits captured & punished. He mourned for his lost love in Joseon (the older sister whom had lots of things in common with him) and his Seoul love (the female lead played by the same actress) because he wasn't sure how to go back to Seoul to see her again...

The ending was kind of open ended: Josen crown prince left a message inside a tube in a part of Gyeongbokgung that he went to with the female lead in Seoul. They visited Gyeongbokgung in Seoul and I think he told her the place that he used to hangout with the Joseon older sister, talking about books/poetry/literature etc. The female lead missed him too much and went to Gyeongbokgung alone on her own and actually found the tube of his message of missing/longing for her.... and she cried her heart out...

Months or years later, female lead met a man who looked like the male lead. They just smiled at each other. Camera pulled out. The End.
