Because of Reply 1997, I decided to watch another drama by Jung Eun Ji - That Winter The Wind Blows, starring A-lister Song Hye Gyo & Jo In Sung.

Obviously Jung Eun Ji could only play a 2nd female lead here alongside with Kim Bum who's Jo In Sung's sidekick of this winter drama.

This is a melodrama with a super dramatic plot brewing every episode.

It's all about who's better at deception. I bluff you, you bluff me, I try not to be bluffed by you, I know you're bluffing me but I'm foolish enough to believe you. I know you want to die but I hope I can be the reason for you to live. For you, I am willing to live.

I'm only barely halfway at Episode 7. Here's the gist of the story....

Oh Soo (Jo In Sung) grew up in an orphanage having been abandoned in the cold, hard winter by his mother. He leads the life of a playboy gambler with little self-esteem, but with great loyalty to his friends, Park Jin Sung (Kim Bum) and another friend coincidentally named Oh Soo (Lee Jae Woo).

Oh Young (Song Hye Kyo) is an orphaned, wealthy heiress who was tragically left blind at an early age. Although Oh Soo (Lee Jae Woo) confides in in friends that he’s actually the only son of a chaebol family, they don’t believe him until circumstances lead his sister, Oh Young to come find him.

Brother Oh Soo is killed just before meeting his long lost sister, but Conman Oh Soo, hounded by death threats from debt collectors, steps in to try and fill his shoes, at least long enough to scam the blind sister. Tragically, he falls in love while attempting to implement his devious plan.

Oh Young was separated with her brother when their parents divorced. She lived with her father & stepmother, Secretary Wang whom till now I couldn't identity if she's good or bad. But from the looks of it, she seemed guilty for several things such as
  • 1) Delayed young Oh Young's treatment of her eyes,
  • 2) Ever since Oh Soo left the house, the letters he wrote to Oh Young were discarded by Secretary Wang,
  • 3) She kept keeping tabs on Oh Young's whereabouts and have any eyes watching Oh Young.

Unfortunately, Oh Young's real brother (the dude with the same name as our male lead) died in the first episode chasing after Oh Soo who was running away from creditors. Conman Oh Soo unknowingly caused the death of real-Oh Soo.

One fine day, a lawyer came to look for conman Oh Soo and asked if he is "Oh Soo?" Obviously he said yes cos that's his name! But actually the lawyer wanted to help Oh Young find her older brother now that Chairman Oh passed away.

In the meantime, Oh Soo needed a huge amount of money to repay his debts, he knew that by playing the real Oh Soo (which he also knew personally since they were doing the conning together all this time), he'd be getting some money in no time and obviously it was easy dealing with a blind girl.

So Oh Soo moved into the house with Oh Young, to everyone's disapproval. Oh Soo was walking on tight rope and could be discovered anytime! Thanks to his sidekicks who always managed to lend in some help, he managed to get himself out of potential trouble. He has also unknowingly gained Oh Young's trust who truly believed that this man right here is her dear beloved brother.

However as days passed, it seemed like he is drifting further & further away from his goal. All he wanted to do was a play a character of a brother and reminiscing with his younger sister and gain her trust and spend time together JUST SO he could get some money (from 'their' fathers' will). But he realised that this girl is so lonely & pitiful that he couldn't bear to leave her alone.

After 8 episodes, it seemed like he is in great struggle to proceed to abandon his plan. I don't know yet but I am bought in to continue to see how this ship goes.

Till the next drama updates! :D Writing about dramas really makes me feel happy!!!
