Beowulf (2007)
So we ended up watching Beowulf despite knowing that it doesn't have good reviews according to Yahoo.sg Movies. Went to watch it myself and....
It was quite ok at the start. It's actually a 3D, CGI movie with good effects, camera angles. But the storyline, oh god, good grieve, whoever was the script writer for this movie? Why the director & producer would want to go ahead with such lousy, sucky script?
In a nutshell, the story is set in the mythical times with kingdoms, dragons, monsters. It's about a vicious cycle of how demons would keep attacking the kingdom and its ppl.
Angelina Jolie only has 2 miserable scenes!! But despite that, she's the cause of all these! She's a demon mermaid in human form whom I think is immortal. Here's the spoiler: she had sex with whoever that becomes the King and they'd leave behind a demon son to destroy the kingdom for all generations!
Anthony Hopkins (AH) plays an old king who gets traumatised by his demon son each time the town calls a celebration. The son kills whoever came in his way, he attacked everyone except for his father. By right, AH has the ability to kill his demon son but he couldn't bear to do so. Hence, he open invitation for brave warriors to help him kill this monster son in exchange for his kingdom & all of his possessions. Yes, he was THAT willing to give up every single thing he has. But I have already mentioned the spoiler in the previous paragraph of why is that so :X
So this guy Beowulf brought his army along and killed the demon son but Angelina Jolie who is the mother of the demon son and she came back seeking revenge on the kingdom and its ppl. The king then told Beowulf to kill the mother also.
But unfortunately, Beowulf couldn't take the sexy mermaid's seducing & temptations and they had sex since he has successfully killed her demon son. Demon mermaid told Beowulf that she could give him anything if he could give her another son. So Beowulf returned and lied to the King that he had killed the mother of the demon. And the King kept his word and gave Beowulf everything he got, including his wife, the Queen.
But what Beowulf didn't expect was that the king committed suicide and jumped to his death. The old King's Queen became Beowulf's Queen too since Beowulf was supposed to be the rightful king now - replacing AH.
20 years down the road, the son of Beowulf & Angelina Jolie, which is a golden dragon, surfaced (don't ask me how they managed to have a dragon as son! WTF!) and traumatised the kingdom & the ppl again leaving no peace.
The last battle scene was quite sad. Beowulf slashed the dragon's throat/neck. He was hanging onto something which was coiled around the dragon's mouth and he wanted to use his sword to pierce through it's heart but he was unable to reach in. So he sliced his arm off a bit to allow him for more room when he swung himself forward. But it just so happened that the dragon swallowed some rocks as his arm was about to reach in and the rocks fell into his arm and he dropped his sword inside the dragon. So he swung himself one last time and managed to grab the heart out and finally killed the dragon after being mortally injured.
The poor Queen has lost 2 of her Kings (AH & Beowulf) to all these terrible monsters. Before Beowulf died, he asked his General which is also his battle partner/best friend to go in his place and look after the kingdom.
So the General became the king again and... guess what?? He saw Angelina Jolie and he walked towards her and the movie ended there...
But we all can guess what will happen to the new king again, he won't be able to resist the temptation and he's going to do it with the demon mermaid again and the whole kingdom will get screwed up & be doomed again. It's an endless cycle!!!!!!!! HAHA!
