For starters, My Girl is one of my favourite Korean dramas.

Chu Yulin is a tour guide who's billingual in Korean, Japanese, Mandarin and she takes tourist around Jeju Island. She has a good-for-nothing gambler dad who always swindles money away and she works hard to earn money for both of them. But the loansharks would always be on their heels and the father & daughter had to be on the run all the time.

Yulin's path crossed with Suel Gongchan when she was running away from the loansharks and got knocked down by him. She was sent to the hospital but was perfectly fine. He has left the nurse with his namecard and this was a good chance for Yulin to 狠狠敲 Gongchan 一笔.

Gongchan is young, successful, he's the GM & the successor of a hotel. His grandpa owns the hotel. Grandpa's health is in grave and he has been searching for his long lost granddaughter ever since his son & daughter in law perished in an accident. Grandpa has 2 children, Gongchan's parents were never mentioned or featured but I assume he's an orphan and Grandpa became childless so he devoted his attention on his grandchildren. Pressure is on Gongchan cos he's the only male heir left. Rumour has it that his granddaughter is still alive so the search had been going on for many years.

Yulin knew Gongchan is successful and decided to extort some money but was unsuccessful. Gongchan chased her away but upon looking at her name card which show that she was bilingual, he ran after her and asked her to help him to work as an interpreter to welcome their China client.

As his grandfather's condition worsened, Gongchan had no choice but to engage Yulin's service to play the role of granddaughter & cousin in the family....

So... the story revolved between this 2, be it at home, or outside and misunderstandings... Yulin's eventually mentally drained having to deceive Gongchan's family and she find herself falling for Gongchan...
